sculpture exercise: door - Part 1

A long awaited sliding door project is underway and sculpture has begun - the following images show the development of what could become a pivot door hinge.  The basic form, sculpted in clay, can later be scanned and 3D printed with modifications to function as a hinge.  This design is currently available in bronze.

A supporting armature was bent and soldered together with 10-gage copper wire and fastened to a back-iron.

Completed clay original

Water clay was attached to the copper wire and sculpted into the final form.
